I am not one to make New Year Resolution. I know that whatever I stated boldly would end miserably by day 4. Yes, I want to be healthy, skinny, amazing skin, have a kick ass marriage, and raise well mannered children. But that is my daily prayer every day. But having a new year is pretty exciting as it feels as though it gives us a chance to start over again. Truth is, every morning is that. A fresh start. Hopefully that fresh start doesn’t start with you climbing out of bed to stepping in a pile of cat vomit your kitty left in the middle of the night.

I did have a new heart as I started this new year out. I want to get to know God more, learn more about myself and live more in the truth. For photography too.

I have never been one to push my name out there, knock on doors, and even hand out cards. I am super terrible at promoting myself. I hate that feeling of a sales car person. Just not my personal strength. I have a huge passion for wanting others to document their everyday moments but have such a hard time verbally sharing that passion without that inside feeling that I am trying to SELL something. That is totally not my heart, but I very much do want others to enjoy the gift of documenting their and their children’s life.

I love having my own little home studio. It small but peaceful and perfect for babies. But my heart has continued to follow the direction of.. truth. Real raw moments. Lifestyle. Families and children as they are. I want to keep building that and offering my talents to keep offering families a way to document their moments. I want to help documents milestones, everyday bits of life, the ordinary and the not so ordinary. I want to capture love, life, chaos, romance, and childhood. And I want to be able to mix that in with video. To show you the beauty that surrounds you. Photographs are mementos that are priceless but to see a memory replay over and over again, showing details, playing the sounds of the moment… that is more than priceless.

For Christmas, hubby surprised me with a piece of equipment that I have been wanting for years. A fig rig. It is a stabilizer contraption that looks like a steering wheel. Giving me more support when I am filming and giving me freedom to run alongside children in motion.

This year, I will be focusing MORE on being there in YOUR life in YOUR surroundings. Together we will chat about your life and the moment you want to have captured. We can discover outside locations in the area and still do family portraits as before but I will be adding a more lifestyle touch to each session. And of course offering more video Pure Moment Sessions.

I LOVE babies – like never ending baby fever and I love everything that has to do with babies, but I have noticed and realized that now that my “babies” are older (sniff sniff), my photography has taken that lead and has become more focused on children and families. Of course, I am always more than happy to photograph and document your new little one, but instead of the studio setting with the organic creamy background and focus on sleepy baby; I will gather up my camera and lens and come document your new little one either at the hospital or in your home  – again with that lifestyle raw storytelling feel.

By the end of the month, I will have updated my website and pricing to reflect all the changes and until that is released, I would love to have some fun and offer a session special!

Pure Moment Video$250 will include a consultation questionnaire, 1 hour of shooting time, 10 digital images and a short completed video. Offer only available for January

Storyteller Session$175 will include 30 minutes of shooting time and 10 digital images. Offer only available for January.

Yah!! It’s the most delicious time of year -SUMMER.

Ice cream and smores and watermelon – oh my! Yes yes yes, I love summer food. Nothing like enjoying some sweet bbq chicken, potato salad and fresh fruit all while running barefoot in the green grass and laughing till the summer sun sets.

For a few years I have been doing these watermelon sessions and they are always so much fun. Sticky and messy but so enjoyable.

Grab your little one or all the little ones, slice open a watermelon and let them enjoy getting messy. Not only will your photos be adorable but most of all your kids will have a blast.

If watermelon is not your child’s favorite – no worries. Let’s chat as I have a lot more fun and creative (and tasty messy) ideas.

There will be 2 days available  for watermelon smash sessions. To reserve your session date, session must be paid in full at the time of booking. Email me at Jackie@jax-creations.com with your desired location (Spirit Lake or Sandpoint) and time. Bring your kiddos, your slices of watermelon and a happy heart!

As a mom of 5 kids, I know that moms everywhere imagine that they would love to spend Mother’s day all snuggled up in their bed with coffee, comfy pajamas, and the remote to the tv.. and food brought to us on demand. Possibly having the kids super quiet doing something productive with dad and no one leaving a mess behind for us to find and clean the next day. Even though that might seem like I just need a break from “mom”, I know that doesn’t mean I don’t love my family to pieces. In all the chaos, meltdowns, chores, laundry and long to do lists, I still cherish being able to celebrate the reasons why I love being a mom.

I want to document those reasons for you. I want to you have something that you can look back on and hear the laughter of your children or the sweet way they say, “I love you mom”. If you have older children or teenagers, I want to document these moments of you all having fun, being creative or just being together. Because there will be a time in your life where all is calm and quiet and you just crave to hear the word “mom” again.

Motherhood Session from Jax Creations Photography on Vimeo.

This Mother’s Day let’s celebrate those moms that are behind the scenes, behind the meltdowns and behind the messy lunches and put them in front of the lens. Glorify them and thank them for all they do, each and everyday. It’s easy to get lost in the chaos that life is.  Let me help you rejoice and be joyful for the wonderful world of motherhood that has been created for you. What better gift then one that can be cherished forever?

Happy Mother’s Day to all you amazing women!

Snuggled up in the mountains of Northern Idaho, is a cozy little town called Coeur d’Alene. Where the trees give off the most amazing fresh smell and up until recently, the grounds were covered in snow. Back in March, I held a Simply Baby session in my home studio that was gently set up with a big fluffy white blanket on a bed. The family that came to see me, I just adore. I was able to meet this momma back when she was pregnant with her little guy and since then, kept in close contact with each. Most Sundays I was able to visit with her during church and I just about peed myself every time she offered to let me hold her little guy. Oh, I love that little man. The sweetest smiles, gives me hugs and during worship, he will sing along in his adorable baby sounds. And his sister….. oh my- what amazing eyes she has!! Here is their last session we did with big sister just flashing her big blue eyes and loving on me!

In the studio, the kids played together, jumped, crawled, bounced, played peek-a-boo and acted like a kitty. Baby S loved up on his favorite blankie and drooled the crap out of Sophie the giraffe. Just being these kiddos and their momma always makes my heart smile.

Here is a sneak peek into our simply baby session.

I am Jackie from Jax Creations Photography. Capturing moments and documenting life is my passion. It is so important to me to work on being present in my own family’s life and for me, taking photos of every day moments is the best way for me to do that. It helps me remember a funny moment, a certain facial expression, a sound, a touch, a feeling. It is my way to share my story with my children. That is why I enjoy doing what I do. It is a way for me to express my love in many ways.

I offer photography and video services to clients- just like you – to help capture, document and share your story and your memories. I want to help you remember the crazy messy hair your child has when they wake in the morning, the time you let your little one (or big one) help you make pancakes, or be there to capture your child’s perspective of him building a fort. I want to help you see your story!

Jax Creations Photography is located in Coeur d’Alene Idaho and servicing the areas of Sandpoint, Hayden, Spirit Lake, Post Falls, Spokane Washington. On location and in your home. Studio sessions are available for newborns, babies and maternity as well as milk bath sessions.

It it time to play a little catch up now that the holiday season is over. Wow, what a busy but fun season it was. Hopefully soon, I will have a big blog post all about it to share all the adventures we did as a family and share my own Christmas Pure Moment Film.

Before Christmas came, I had some great company with a friend of mine who I always just enjoy being around. She is just this beautiful woman, so sweet and so calm – like a breath of fresh air when we so desperately need it in our lives sometimes. As moms, even though our days may be simple with just raising children, it can be difficult for us moms to get out of our bubbles and make time for things outside of our mom life. After all, raising children and being a  wife is a full time job. But on this day, we had made some time to see each other and be in each others company.. and of course I had begged if I could grab a few photos of her adorable baby girl since the last time was when she was born.

Here is a sneak peek into our little Christmas session together. I loved this mini session because baby S really gave me a mixture of facial expressions which is always so much fun. Babies in this stage are just started to really have their personalities bloom and it is so much fun for me to be able to capture it. For the most part, I am a stranger to a lot babies so I get to sit on the floor with them and play, sing, laugh, dance and be silly. We get to explore and in return I get baby loves. The parents get to sit back – within safety distance, and just watch their little ones be themselves. And of course if their little one is on the move, they get to be my baby wrangler. Pictures shouldn’t be always about the smiles. They should be about the personality. The facial expressions. What are the cute little things they are doing right now in this stage of life?
