I am not one to make New Year Resolution. I know that whatever I stated boldly would end miserably by day 4. Yes, I want to be healthy, skinny, amazing skin, have a kick ass marriage, and raise well mannered children. But that is my daily prayer every day. But having a new year is pretty exciting as it feels as though it gives us a chance to start over again. Truth is, every morning is that. A fresh start. Hopefully that fresh start doesn’t start with you climbing out of bed to stepping in a pile of cat vomit your kitty left in the middle of the night.

I did have a new heart as I started this new year out. I want to get to know God more, learn more about myself and live more in the truth. For photography too.

I have never been one to push my name out there, knock on doors, and even hand out cards. I am super terrible at promoting myself. I hate that feeling of a sales car person. Just not my personal strength. I have a huge passion for wanting others to document their everyday moments but have such a hard time verbally sharing that passion without that inside feeling that I am trying to SELL something. That is totally not my heart, but I very much do want others to enjoy the gift of documenting their and their children’s life.

I love having my own little home studio. It small but peaceful and perfect for babies. But my heart has continued to follow the direction of.. truth. Real raw moments. Lifestyle. Families and children as they are. I want to keep building that and offering my talents to keep offering families a way to document their moments. I want to help documents milestones, everyday bits of life, the ordinary and the not so ordinary. I want to capture love, life, chaos, romance, and childhood. And I want to be able to mix that in with video. To show you the beauty that surrounds you. Photographs are mementos that are priceless but to see a memory replay over and over again, showing details, playing the sounds of the moment… that is more than priceless.

For Christmas, hubby surprised me with a piece of equipment that I have been wanting for years. A fig rig. It is a stabilizer contraption that looks like a steering wheel. Giving me more support when I am filming and giving me freedom to run alongside children in motion.

This year, I will be focusing MORE on being there in YOUR life in YOUR surroundings. Together we will chat about your life and the moment you want to have captured. We can discover outside locations in the area and still do family portraits as before but I will be adding a more lifestyle touch to each session. And of course offering more video Pure Moment Sessions.

I LOVE babies – like never ending baby fever and I love everything that has to do with babies, but I have noticed and realized that now that my “babies” are older (sniff sniff), my photography has taken that lead and has become more focused on children and families. Of course, I am always more than happy to photograph and document your new little one, but instead of the studio setting with the organic creamy background and focus on sleepy baby; I will gather up my camera and lens and come document your new little one either at the hospital or in your home  – again with that lifestyle raw storytelling feel.

By the end of the month, I will have updated my website and pricing to reflect all the changes and until that is released, I would love to have some fun and offer a session special!

Pure Moment Video$250 will include a consultation questionnaire, 1 hour of shooting time, 10 digital images and a short completed video. Offer only available for January

Storyteller Session$175 will include 30 minutes of shooting time and 10 digital images. Offer only available for January.

Friday September 8, 2017, I was able to witness and document one of the most amazing – miraculous things that can happen for a woman. Birth.

I have been blessed through my photography years to be able to document the birth of a child and each time it is the most beautiful thing to witness. I get so emotional with happiness which usually shows in tears. But I can’t help it.  And how can you not be just speechless when you realize and see that a BABY has been growing inside of a mom and now you get to see it right in front of you- to touch it and love it. Amazing is the only word that I can think of using, but it truly is just… amazing.

I have 5 beautiful children and had lost 1 baby just before he/she grew to be 20 weeks. And even though that moment in life was harder than I had prepared it to be, still the miracle of a baby growing and developing inside me… truly what a beautiful gift we are given as women. I had to talk my ovaries down a few times and swallow a few times as I let my mind and heart and body, crave another baby of my own.

Being able to see a fresh new baby and being able to take time to get lost in all the fine little details like counting all the little wrinkles on their fingers, how delicate their fingernails look, the tiny eyelashes, their mouth and how cute they are when already trying to suckle on something. Every little thing is a miracle and my heart is just overfilled with joy on how our God is so amazing.

Ok, I’m trying to reel it as I am getting all emotional.

Friday, a good friend, sister in Christ, client – was able to get permission from her doctor to have me there with her and her hubby during their scheduled c-section. This was so exciting to me. I was just getting back from vacation, getting my kids back on their school schdeule and now I get to document a friend during her c-section. This was over the moon exciting. But, I do want to share a little bit about her pregnancy journey because hopefully you too will feel how meaningful this was.

For her 3rd pregnancy, she was experiencing some painful moments which caused her to go into an early labor via c-section. She had a some “window” on her uterus which can be very dangerous for both mom and baby. I was able to be there for the birth of baby Ezekiel – documenting the prep before surgery and was there waiting for them after recovery. You can see their video HERE.

For this pregnancy, she knew that precautions were needed and her scheduled c-section would be earlier in case there was another chance of a uterine window. It was much better to be safe and plan for this pregnancy. They also decided to wait to find out if they were blessed with a boy or a girl. I had a feeling they were having another girl, but a boy seemed to be what others were guessing. I knew this was going to be exciting for them to find out together when they got to see baby. Such an awesome feeling of knowing at that moment.

6am I arrived at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene and we all hung out, joked around, prayed and waited til it was her time. They handed out the usual lovely cover up for her hubby and I to wear in the OR. John, the dad, looked like papa smurf and I looked like a giant marshmallow. But I couldn’t wait to bring it home for my kids to play in, I knew that they would think it was awesome (and they did).

I was given stern instructions on where I could not go or touch, but I was more than happy to obey because this was a special treat for me- and for this momma. This is most likely their last baby so I understand the feeling of wanting to document everything as much as they could. Once in the OR, the nurses and doctors were amazing. The lead nurse was grabbing me and pulling me to the best spot all over the OR to get the best view. And when there was going to be another good spot, the ushered me over to the other spot. At one point, the nurse even had all the doctors stop and pose for a photo.

Just before they reached baby, Dr. Henneberg noticed that this momma not only had another uterine window but it was much bigger than last time. If you have never heard of a uterine window before, it is like your uterus is as thin as saran wrap giving mom and baby a dangerous situation. The doctor, although amazed, called it a miracle!

When baby came out, it took a moment to realize they just had a girl. They totally didn’t expect a girl. I totally did (happy dance).

Here are some photos of baby Chole and her birthday!

here fingers looked like velvet! sweet new baby details

It was a party fit for a princess. Pink and gold and stars decorated their home. And in the middle of the table sat the most delicious and glittery cupcakes I have ever tasted. All of the treats were incredible and all done by hand by this little girl’s momma.

Meet baby Clara. She is loved like crazy and smiles for what seems like all the time. She adores her big brother and creates the most adorable facial expressions.

For her birthday, I was invited out to document her big day. She was surrounded with many friends and family who each gave Clara a time capsule wish and blessing.

Clara’s parents wanted to do something memorable for her, so they created a time capsule box and filled it with keepsake items and special notes for her to open and read on her 18th birthday. This special video is a Pure Moments Film from her big birthday party but also a special film for her to watch as she grows up. What makes this video special is she will be able to hear special words from her big brother, her momma and her daddy.

The video touching and for me, even a little emotional. Take a moment to watch this Pure Moments Film – A Birthday Celebration.

Your First Birthday from Jax Creations Photography on Vimeo.

The first year of baby life seems to go so fast. Maybe it is because the lack of sleep and the countless diapers we change or the many hours we are up feeding baby, that it just feels like one long month, but either way, that first year of watching your baby grow and learning new things, just is not long enough.

But, that time when baby is reaching their FIRST BIRTHDAY, we are over joyed and filled with so much excitement and moments of sadness – as this little baby you have been caring for, really isn’t that newborn we wished to hang on to for just a tad longer. This little one is now moving and exploring all sorts of different things, eating food, smiles, laughs, makes amazing facial expressions and is showing their personality in the most adorable way.

Some families plan a big celebration of this awesome milestone and some keep things simple and quiet. Whatever your style is – I pray that you also make time to celebrate yourself as well. You did an amazing job momma!! Take a slice of that cake, a fork, and have yourself a little time out to enjoy YOUR milestones in your baby’s first year!

This sweet momma and her sweet baby, I first met at a women’s retreat last year. Baby A has these amazing beautiful eyes and just make you smile when you look at her and her smiles she gives you – you can’t help but smile back and say “aww”.

They came to see me for a cake smash session and it was probably the most fun I have had with a little one and their family for a cake smash. Baby A at first was not sure what to do – as most babies. As soon as we cheered her on, she dug into that cake and LOVED playing with the frosting. She wasn’t too sure about the taste of it, but she loved playing with it in her hands.

Here is a sneak peek into her cake smash session.

Baby A was so sweet and giving as she tried sharing with all of us her yummy cake. But my favorite part is when she started rubbing cake all over her arms. I get that excited too when eating cake!

I am going to try to not get all sappy on you, but do you remember when your baby turned one? If you have not yet reached that stage yet, keep reading so you can be prepared!

It seemed that the fastest year ever in life is the first year of your baby growing. They learn and grow so fast and before we realize it, the sleepy baby that only would sleep when I was awake and treat me like a milk machine.. is now celebrating their first birthday.

This momma and little one came to see me to celebrate her first birthday, but instead of traditional cake, she brought alone a family favorite- DONUTS!

Oh- that sweet sugary doughy smell made me weak in the knees and for that whole time we were together for our session, I seriously considered to be in medical pain just to lick one of those donuts. At times, I have to admit, that yummy gluteny smell, distracted me. My little pudgy fingers wanted to wrap around that donut and hide in the corner to see how fast I could eat it before being caught. But…. I knew that even just one little taste would land me in tummy hell. So, I focused on this sweet little one that celebrated her awesome day with 12 glazed donuts.

Here is a sneak peek into our studio session.

Big brother was so good as he sat and watched sister eat her way to smiles. He was rewarded with choosing his own donut and in turn, he asked to have pictures of himself too! Gotta love a little one that enjoys the camera!
