sweet… sweet….baby
How lucky I was this day!! I received a sweet phone call from a happy Aunt that wanted to gift her special niece a gift certificate to do photos for their new baby girl. After calling the new momma to tell her the good news…. we set up an appointment for the NEXT DAY! I don’ t like to wait for those sweet newborns!
I was so excited to meet this little princess. It was going to be so nice to get a girl in the studio. Not that the boys are bad to have… you just cant dress them up like you can those sweet little girls!
Ok.. and yes.. I was excited to use my new girly props
I would like to introduce to you.. sweet Makarly
S & G- thank you so much for letting me capture your sweet little one. She was just a peach! I hope to be able to see her grow in her first year!!

Well its been a long time since I did a Kiss & Diss and it occured to me last ngiht- which you will find out why here soon- that it was indeed time for that again!
I have a story to share, but I really have no idea where to start.
A graceful butterfly. That I am not! I guess it all started abotu 2 years ago when I received a phone call from a sweet southern gal from Texas that wanted to purchase a gift certificate for a family member up here for their new baby!! Fast forward to now…..I finally got to meet this sweet person. Her family had made plans to come up to Sandpoint for some summer fun and to visit family.
In the middle of their vacation they scheduled a family session with me down at the Seasons. I was super excited!!! And was even more excited when her two beautiful PERFECT looking kids came out to meet up. This family was the PICTURE perfect family- no joke!
Well her kids, hubby and I, played around at the rocks doing some pretty awesome North Idaho photos when we then decided to head down to the private dock to get more water views. It was such a great evening. All the boats just haning out, the water was calm, and it was so quiet and peaceful out there.
The sun finally peeked thru the clouds and I had this perfect shot lined up.. I got the kids in their place- looking away from this crazed photographer- the sun was perfect. I was going in for that beautiful sun flare shot!!
Well… there I was lining it all up in my camera- my best friend- my baby- when my clumsy self FELL IN THE WATER!!! this was no stepping in a puddle- NO… my fat butt went UNDER water! All I remember is holding my camera up PRAYING it did not get ruined. God please- I dont care what happens to me- just protect the camera!! Ok, yes I do really care what happens to me, but I really did not want to make that call to the hubby that I broke my camera!
It took THREE people to pull me out of the water!!! I am a heavy chick when I am wet…and freaking out… and embarssed! When they pulled me out I had to just stand there for a moment with my fat rolls hanging out of my now see thru shirt and saggy pants- thinking I just FELL in the water- “OH MY GAWD!!! JACKIE!! You IDOIT!” When I sat down I had to fight the urge to not cry like a blubbering idot and hold it together as much as a professional could. ( I think at this point the “professional” part was under water!) Everyone was so sweet and caring. Offering me towels, blowdryer, dinner…. I just wanted to crawl in a hole and dissappear for a bit. THANK GOD_ everyone was so nice.
So what is a {wet drowned looking} girl to do? Laugh and continue on! I can only imagine what a sight I was.. makeup on my face, hair all wet and matted, shirt that you can see thru that can show the bra size.. those poor kids. If I was one of them, I would have been ROLLING on the floor laughing!
By SOME miracle my camera kept working for me – although my gracefullness wasn’t. Oh but the night wasnt over my friends..
Just by WALKING I broke my flip flop… stumbled on a BOULDER…… OH I was a MESS for these people. I will not blame them one second if they never want to deal with me again!
On a more happier note… I can claim that this is not like me. I am actually pretty scared of docks and ALWAYS watch where I am walking on them- so WHY in the world did I fall off? I have no earthly idea
But I am glad it was me and not one of the kids. What is even more funnier.. everytime I go near water with clients.. i say, ” if i fall in GRAB the camera FIRST!”… and of course we all laugh but I am DEAD SERIOUS people! lol
By the time I got in my car last night, after laughing at loud at myself.. i finally broke down and had my little pitty party moment. There I sat – alone- thank goodness- in my soaking wet clothes, barefoot, hungry and so flipping embarssed! I figured I deserved a good treat!! So since I wouldnt have been welcomed very nicely in YOkes for a bottle of wine, I opted for a brooklyn pizza- all to myself! I just wanted to get home safely, take a bubble bath, laugh at myself again, hug my kiddos and eat my pizza!
well… on the way home – as I was making my way across the long bridge, something hit my car. At this point all I could do was scream, “are you SEriOUs!!!” I pulled over and was relieved that I did not see any damage, no blown tires, nothing missing. It must have been a {big} rock that hit the under carriage or something.
I was glad to see the evening end- and I am sure the family I had provided the entertainment for that night, was glad as well. If anything, they at least get to go home to Texas with a great story! Now I am just crossing my fingers they like their photos!
